The town's infamous sex museum is at this Shinto fertility shrine not far from the train station. You can tell you've arrived—no, that's no giant squid. Just beyond is the museum, called Deko Boko Jindou (literally a shrine honoring "things that poke out, things that go in"). The three-floor collection is astonishing. What is that samurai doing? It's best to leave the kids at the castle for this one.

There are 2 places here: Taga Shrine (free) & the Dekoboko Museum. Both worth seeing because they're so rare, but only combined with other Uwajima sights - not worth a trip to Uwajima for just going here. There's a good video at http://youtu.be/g0WcmpSQ7S0 And no photos of the museum art! They threaten a 200,000 yen (US$2,000) fine if caught. But the museum is more for international works of art, not so much Japanese. That said, they are sexual
in nature but not obscene or pornographic. Kids are not allowed.
