Fodor's Review

Just south of the decaying castle park, this museum's third floor features a permanent exhibit on Kagawa history from ancient to modern times; its second floor has a permanent art collection as well as a special exhibition gallery, and its ground floor boasts library of art books and a hands-on exhibit corner where you can don a lush ceremonial kimono or a full suit of samurai armor. (The museum staff will even take a photo for you.) Kids can play with traditional Japanese toys. Free English audioguides are available, but you won't need a lick of Japanese to enjoy walking in a Neolithic hut, sitting in a 19th-century schoolroom, or crawling with a magnifying glass on the giant photo map of Kagawa.
