Visitor Information in Takamatsu
A squat tourist information office in front of the JR Station is the place for maps, timetables, and travel advice. Some of the staff speaks English quite well and can provide good information about other Shikoku destinations. Make sure to ask about current discounts for visitors. For local events try IPAL, a cultural exchange office in the central Chuo-koen. Ask for their excellent city map and the latest Kagawa Journal newsletter.

Why let walking from sight to sight eat up your whole day? Take advantage of the cheap bicycle rental available from an underground garage near the JR Station and at six other locations around the city. For ¥100 for up to six hours, the whole city will open up to you. Explore some out-of-the way spots, like the two skinny piers and cute lighthouses off the sun port north of the station, perfect for watching the sunset. To make things even more convenient, bikes can be returned to any rental station.
