togyu Review

Uwajima's other attraction is the togyu, a sport in which two bulls lock horns and push, à la sumo, for control of the ring. The bullfights date back 400 years, and if you can make it during one of the six annual tournaments you'll have a great time (January 2, the third Sunday in March, the first Sunday in April, July 24, August 14, and the second Sunday in November). The stadium is at the foot of Maru-yama, a 30-minute walk from Uwajima Station.
