Katsurahama

Katsurahama Review

The prefecture may be known for its great surfing and swimming beaches, but the city's Katsurahama is not one of them. Rocks and breakers prohibit any fun in the water, and the pebbly sand isn't comfortable for picnicking, but the view from a cliff-top shrine is great (moon-watching from this spot is depicted in many ukiyo-e prints). Katsurahama is best known for the giant statue of Sakamoto Ryoma, Kochi's local-born historic hero, staring grimly out to sea from his big black pedestal.
