Nichiyo-ichi market

Nichiyo-ichi market Review

Nichiyo-ichi market offers a mile of bizarre fruits and vegetables (some looking like they're from other planets), tasty walking-food, local crafts, and kitsch, and an army of fellow browsers. It's not the place for good souvenir shopping, but why not try some yuzu-an in a pastry pocket? A Kochi specialty replaces red-bean anko in normal desserts with a paste made from sour yellow yuzu fruit grown in the prefecture. Nichiyo-ichi runs along broad, palm-lined Otetsuji-dori, parallel to the arcade and just north of it, and goes from Harimaya-bashi right up to the gates of the castle, early morning to mid-afternoon every Sunday.
