Kochi Castle
Kochi Castle Review
Go west through the markets and arcades downtown to find the barrel-chested body of Kochi Castle. Kochi-jo has a slightly different feel from other Japanese castles, more rough-hewn and well lived-in. The view from the topmost watchtower is splendid, and walking up the enormous steps or through the daimyo's receiving chambers is like being transported to the Edo period. From the station, hop a green Yosakoi Gurarin bus for a short ¥100 ride. Walking from Harimaya-bashi should take 15 minutes.
