Visitor Information

Major tourist information centers in Shikoku's main cities could offer the only skilled English speakers you meet, so use them for advice, transportation info, reservations, recommendations, and local news. Community events and festivals are happening all the time: a one-horse town over the ridge may be celebrating its four-hundredth annual lantern festival tomorrow night, but you'll never know unless you ask.

A nationwide service for English-language assistance or travel information is available daily 9-5. Dial toll-free for information. When using a yellow, blue, or green public phone (do not use red phones), insert a ¥10 coin, which will be returned.

English-language hotline (0120/444-800 or 0088/224-800). Kochi (088/882-1634). Matsuyama (089/931-3914). Takamatsu (087/851-2009). Tokushima (088/656-3303).
