Nestled into a quiet corner of one of Osaka's underground shopping malls, Lois Café Chinois is a sanctuary of softly lighted elegance – Shanghai 1930s-style. The menu is Chinese food for a Japanese clientele: an array of steamed dumplings, noodles, spring rolls, and Peking duck, but lighter than continental fare. If you only need a pick-me-up, one of their huge parfaits for afternoon tea will dispense with the need for dinner. There is a no-smoking area.
