Tenno-ji Koen (Tenno-ji Park)

Tenno-ji Koen (Tenno-ji Park) Review

The best place to get away from the noise and concrete of the city, this park contains not only the Municipal Museum of Fine Art and the garden of Keitaku-en, but also the Tenno-ji Botanical Gardens (Tenno-ji Shokubutsuen). Also within the park is a prehistoric burial mound, Chausuyama Kofun, that was the site of Tokugawa Ieyasu's camp during the siege of Osaka-jo in 1614-15. Visit in the morning or evening when the park is at its quietest. Take the Loop Line from Osaka Station to Tenno-ji Station. The park is on the left side of the road going north to Shitenno-ji.
