On the former site of Expo '70 – one of the defining events in Osaka's postwar history – this 647-acre park contains sports facilities, an enormous statue by Okamoto Taro called the Tower of the Sun, a garden with two teahouses, other gardens, a vast amusement park called Expo Land that's popular with families and young couples, theNational Museum of Ethnology, theJapan Folk Art Museum, and two smaller museums. To get to the park, take the Mido-suji subway line to Senri-Chuo Station (20 minutes from Umeda); then take the Expo Land bus to Nihon Teien-mae Station (30 minutes) or the monorail to Bampaku Koen-mae (10 minutes).
