Kongou Sekirinzan Boulder Park

Kongou Sekirinzan Boulder Park Review

This great nature preserve lets you wander through the eerie land-before-time rock formations and gorgeous limestone spires of Japan's only tropical karst. Of the three trails, the longer "Strange and Big Rock Course" marked in yellow is nowhere near as challenging or time-consuming as the park rangers make it out to be, and with its varied terrain more reminiscent of Papua New Guinea or Indonesia, the hour you'll spend trail-walking will be highly rewarding. It's all the way up Route 58 just before the road ends, about an hour from Nago. After leaving the karst continue 10 minutes to Hedo Misaki, Okinawa's northernmost tip, for more otherworldly cliffs and rock formations and a great scenic lookout before coming back down the coast.
