You can find nearly every kind of cuisine in Okinawa, from American burgers to traditional noodle shacks and cheap, smoky taverns. There are also trendy, upscale establishments, especially in the cities and resort hotels. In most cases, thanks to the large American military presence, someone nearby probably speaks a little English.
Accommodations in Naha range from a youth hostel and cheap hotels to luxurious, internationally known resorts. Rooms may be scarce and outrageously expensive around New Year's, Golden Week (April 29 to May 5), and in August, especially during the mid-month Obon holiday.
