When to Go to Nagoya, Ise-Shima, and the Kii Peninsula

Spring is the most popular season, especially early April when cherry trees bloom. Nagoya gets extremely humid in July and August, but in autumn the trees turn color under blue skies. Sea breezes make coastal areas bearable in summer. Cold winds blow into Nagoya from the ski grounds to the north in winter, but Wakayama Prefecture remains mild. The weather can be changeable along the coastline of Ise-Shima, and if you're heading inland on the Kii Peninsula be prepared for hilly terrain.
