Getting Oriented
Nagoya is between Tokyo and Kyoto, and we recommend spending a couple of days exploring the sights. The city serves as a jumping-off point for traveling south and west to Ise-Shima and the Kii Peninsula. Nagoya is on a wide plain in the main urban and industrial corridor that runs along the south side of Honshu from Tokyo as far west as Kobe. The mountains of the southern Japan Alps rise just north and east of the city, and to the west is the lush Kii Peninsula.
