Inside the fancy Plaza Hotel Tenjin, Bassin (locals pronounce it "Bah-san") has wooden counters and furniture set off against cream-color walls and art deco lamps. Try the garden salad with seaweed dressing or the marinated tofu. Unique dishes include grilled chicken in a burdock-root sauce, and stewed snapping-turtle meat with summer vegetables. More elaborate Japanese courses run ¥3,500-¥7,000.
