Fodor's Review

In February and March, the gorgeous plum blossoms that blanket the gardens surrounding this shrine make it a great place to warm your spirit during the sometimes desolate winter. The rest of the year, the shrine's biggest draw is its fabulous market. Held on the 25th of every month, the market draws vendors selling everything from gooey fried octopus balls and black soy bean tea to kimonos and woodblock prints. To get here, take Bus 50, 101, or 201 to Kitano Tenman-gu-mae.
