Fodor's Review

Not far from Fushimi-Inari Taisha is a district of old white-walled sake breweries and warehouses, some dating to the early Edo era. Gekkeikan, founded in 1637, is one of the oldest breweries. The museum details the brewing process, and there are free tastings along with a complimentary jar of sake to take home or enjoy in the rock garden. The brewery is a five-minute walk from Chushojima Station, on the Keihan Line, or a 10-minute walk from Momoyama Goryo-mae Station,

on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line. Walk-ins are welcome.
