Kyoto Handicraft Center

Kyoto Handicraft Center Review

Here you'll find seven floors filled with dolls, kimonos, pottery, swords, woodblock prints, and one of the best collections of English-language books on Japan. The eye-popping selection and reasonable prices mean this duty-free commercial center is a great place for browsing. Regular demonstrations of traditional craft techniques and hands-on workshops make this place tourist-oriented, though not a tourist trap. Everything is of high quality. To get here, take Bus 202 or 206 to Kumano Jinja-mae or Bus 5, 32, 46, or 100 to Kyoto Kaikan Bijutsukan-mae. The building is across Maruta-machi-dori from Heian Jingu.
