Fodor's Review:

The museum is known for its collection of 20th-century Japanese paintings, which emphasizes artistic movements in the Kansai region, and its ceramic treasures by Kanjiro Kawai, Rosanjin Kitaoji, Shoji Hamada, and others. There are frequent exhibitions of contemporary artists. From the Dobutsu-en-mae bus stop, walk down the street that leads to the Heian Jingu. The museum is on the left inside the torii.

  • Cost: ¥420; additional fee for special exhibitions
