A fusion of ultramodern design with traditional Japanese style is what you'll find at this popular hotel above Kyoto Station. Spacious Western-style rooms have good amenities: broad desks, separate tea areas, and bathrooms with big soaking tubs. A walk between the hotel's north and south towers affords a great view from the brilliant glass walkway.     I travel to Kyoto several times per year and the Granvia is by far the best. Normal size rooms with modern bathrooms and 'smart' toilets. Service is great and the room is always ready by 1:00pm in case I need a nap due to time change. Being part of Kyoto station also makes it great if inclement weather is around because you almost never have to go outside for meals, shopping, etc.
