Nishiki-koji Review

Kyoto has a wonderful food market, Nishiki-koji, which is north of Shijo-dori and branches off the Teramachi-dori covered arcade in central Kyoto. Look for delicious grilled fish dipped in soy sauce for a tasty snack or fresh Kyoto sweets. Try to avoid the market in late afternoon, when housewives come to do their daily shopping. The market is long and narrow; in a sizable crowd there's always the possibility of being pushed into the display of fresh fish.
