Fodor's Review

This is an excellent spot to recharge with tea and sweets while wandering through the cobbled lanes of Gion. Soak up the scenery while enjoying the house specialty, warabi-mochi, a treat made from steamed and pounded rice that has a gelatin-like consistency. The green color and subtle spice comes from the mountain herb yomogi. The dish is served on a heap of golden kinako, made from toasted soybeans, to add a delightful sweetness. Don't feel shy about licking your bamboo spoon to enjoy the last bit. The restaurant also serves ice cream and a variety of other Japanese treats along with excellent green tea. You'll find it on the northern end of Higashiyama's cobbled Nene-no-michi.
