This excellent steak restaurant specializes in Omi beef (of the same high-end wagyu grade as well-known Kobe beef and celebrated by Japanese gourmets). You'll be ushered through corridors to the dining room and seated around a hori-gotatsu (recessed grill) or at a counter in a pristine tatami room. Excellent seafood platters are also popular, as is the lunch menu, which is ¥5,000. The restaurant is in a Meiji-era town house connected to an annex of the Kyoto Kokusai Hotel. A drink beside the duck pond in hotel's bar is a great way to end the evening. Private rooms are available on request.
