Fodor's Review:

Not far from Kodai-ji temple, along a stone-paved walking street, this small ryokan is nestled amidst other machiya in a preservation district of Gion along the eastern hills. Both floors have views of the charming garden with a small chashitsu, or teahouse. Reasonably priced ryokan that serve breakfast are proliferating, and this one offers a veritable feast of yudofu (simmered bean curd), salmon, miso soup, rice, vegetables and Japanese tea. There is no dinner. The only drawback is language; the booking must be made in Japanese, and you should make sure the owner knows what time you are coming. Arrive by taxi, since the driver will be able to find the side street. Inakatei particularly suits guests familiar with ryokan etiquette.
