Yuhara draws repeat visitors wishing to save a few yen while exploring Kyoto. The friendliness of the staff more than compensates for the spartan amenities. Especially rewarding is a springtime stay, when the cherry trees are in full bloom along the Takase-gawa, which the inn overlooks. This is a 15-minute walk from Gion and Ponto-cho. No meals are served and baths are communal. There is an 11 PM curfew.
