By Air in Kobe

Kansai International Airport (KIX) is south of Osaka, and approximately 40 minutes from Kobe. It handles the region's international flights and some domestic flights to and from Japan's larger cities. The Kobe Airport, handling mainly domestic flights, is 18 minutes from JR San-no-miya Station via the Portliner.

Airport Transfers

Excellent public transport from the airports makes using taxis impractical. From Osaka International Airport, take the JR Kansai Airport Express Haruka to Shin-Osaka and change to the JR Tokaido Line for Kobe's JR San-no-miya Station, a 75-minute (¥3,520) trip. For a quicker trip, ignore the train and take the comfortable limousine bus (70 minutes; ¥1,800), which drops you off in front of San-no-miya Station.

From Osaka Itami Airport, buses to San-no-miya Station leave from a stand between the airport's two terminals approximately every 20 minutes 7:45 AM-9:10 PM. The trip takes about 40 minutes (¥1,020).
