Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum

Museums / Galleries, Higashinada-ku

Fodor's Review:

Nada, one of Kobe's westernmost neighborhoods, is famous for its sake. A number of museums and breweries are here -- many offering free sake tasting! -- but the best is the Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum. At the door you are confronted by a sake barrel of immense proportions. Traditional tools and devices, videos in English, and life-size figures of traditionally clad brewers demonstrate the sake-brewing process. The tour ends with free tasting and a gift shop. It' s a five-minute walk south from Hanshin Sumiyoshi Station.
