High above the Mall, past Christ Church, is this snow-white lodge with red-roofed turrets. Built in 1836 by the Bengal Engineers, it later became the summer home of the local royalty. The public areas are decorated with old photographs, tiger and leopard skins, and stuffed trophies from yesteryear hunts. Rooms vary widely, so inspect a few; the largest rooms upstairs have chunky antique furniture, mementos, and valley views. Garhwali meals are prepared on request.
