For the best impression of Mussoorie, set aside a full afternoon and walk up through Landour Bazaar, with its imperial clock tower, toward Sisters Bazaar and the exceedingly tranquil Landour area. This was the original settlement, and it's pleasantly dotted with old cottages and bungalows. Landour Bazaar has a few interesting shops selling antiques, probably from Raj-era homes. It's a long, uphill 7-km (4-mi) walk from Gandhi Chowk, in the Mall, to Char Dukhan, in the heart of Landour, so you may want to hire a taxi (Rs. 300) and consider walking down.
