Rafting Rush

Rafting Rush

White-water rafting is a major industry in Uttarakhand. At this writing there are close to 50 rafting camps between Rishikesh and Kudiala, set up by tour companies to provide Delhi's well-heeled with relaxing adventure vacations. People now drive up for weekends of rafting and horseplay on a sandy beach by the upper Ganges. It's highly recommended if you want to escape the city and do some rafting without committing to a long, strenuous adventure trip. The season runs from October to June, and you choose from several swift rivers—the Alakananda, Bhagirathi, Tons, Kali, and Ganges. Contact Aquaterra Adventures, Himalayan River Runners, Snow Leopard, or Outdoor Adventures India. Outdoor Adventures India stands out, with its focus on safety, ecology, and good food. Aquaterra, led by a team of experienced, enthusiastic, fun-loving river guides, is recommended for its hearty spirit and campfire barbecues.
