The chef-owner of this comfortable restaurant in central Chennai worked for the Taj Coromandel and the ruler of Dubai before going on his own. Under an awning on the roof of a small hotel, the restaurant makes a nice change from the sometimes stuffy atmosphere of the other notable restaurants in town—and the food is often just a little better. The main ingredients for the seafood-heavy menu come from this port city's seafood markets—winners include beer-battered fish-and-chips (given a small masala kick), the crab cakes (made with very little filler), and a seafood risotto. The catch of the day options include such local varieties as emperor, seer, pomfret, and parrot fish. Because of Tamil Nadu licensing laws, no alcohol is served.
