Pondicherry Museum

Pondicherry Museum Review

This museum near the park covers the area's ancient past, when it was a trading post with imperial Rome, as well as its more recent French Colonial past. Among the diverting items on display are French sculptures, portraits, furniture, pots used to hold Roman olive oil and wine, some impressive Chola bronzes, a palanquin, and a strange kind of carriage called a pousse-pousse, which a hapless servant had to push while its occupant steered. Cameras aren't allowed inside.
