Basilica of San Thome Cathedral

Basilica of San Thome Cathedral Review

It's commonly held that Thomas the Apostle ("Doubting Thomas") lived his last years in South India, walking daily from his cave at Little Mount to the beach at Mylapore to preach. Before being captured by the French, Dutch, and then the English, San Thome was a Portuguese enclave, its name dating from the cathedral's inception in 1504. In the 1890s the cathedral was reconstructed as a neo-Gothic structure with a 180-foot-tall basilica. St. Thomas is believed to be entombed inside.
