Fodor's Review:
Right next door to the Jagat Niwas Palace on Lal Ghat, in the heart of the old city, this haveli has a homey feel. The staff consists of domestic help, and members of the family supervise the kitchen, which serves home-style Rajasthani food -- a relief from the Punjabi and Mughlai cuisines that seem to dominate menus through the state. Ask for rooms on the upper floor, the ones close to the water can let in more smells than you might appreciate. Rooms are large, simple, and lovingly restored, but you won't find a TV or phone in them. You'll have to shout down the stairs for room service and there's a chance you'll be answered by a bark from the family dog that guards the courtyard.
