You'll find this 16th-century fort 20 km (12 mi) from Chittaurgarh, in the village of Bassi, has been converted into a Heritage Hotel by descendants of the Chundawat royals. The approach road to the fort goes through the unspoiled village of Bassi. The common areas are large and elegant, with period furniture, and the rooms spacious and comfortable. You can also visit the family's former hunting lodge overlooking Bassi and Orai lakes. Government plans are afoot to reintroduce tigers to the wild in the Bassi wildlife sanctuary. The hotel organizes tented safaris near the lake, and trips into the nearby Bhil villages.
