$$$$, Jodhpur
Fodor's Review:
Built in the 1930s of pink sandstone -- in the art deco style particular to colonial India -- this magnificent fort palace is one of the grandest of Rajasthan's many such hotels. Still home to the Maharaja of Jodhpur, it has served as a backdrop for many Indian and foreign films. The public rooms are lavish, and filled with objects d'art; many of the rooms, though not opulent, are designed in period style. The newer rooms tend to be small and ordinary. There's a beautiful, blue indoor pool. The hotel is now run by Aman Resorts, and is very exclusive.
