Fodor's Review:
This small palace sits above its own ghat -- private stairs leading down to the lake -- with fabulous, panoramic views of Pushkar. Built by the Maharaja of Jaisalmer in the 15th century, the Pushkar Palace was later presented to the Maharaja of Kishangarh. In 1998 the hotel served as headquarters for the film Holy Smoke, starring Kate Winslet. All the rooms are outfitted with antique furniture from Rajputana's heyday. If you ask for a pickup from Ajmer station, insist on a new car in decent condition. The restaurant is the best in Pushkar and is on a terrace overlooking the lake. Horse, camel, and jeep safaris are available.
