If you plan to enter or leave Gujarat via Rajasthan, this Heritage Hotel at the edge of the Aravalli Hills and close to two smaller wildlife sanctuaries makes an ideal base. Patan and Modhera are 73 km and 112 km (45 mi and 70 mi) away, respectively, and Mount Abu, in Rajasthan, is even closer. Once a princely mansion, it's well restored and professionally run. Accommodation is available in tents and grand-looking rooms, and there's also camel- and horseback riding on request. Palanpur, a stop on the main rail line between Ahmedabad and Delhi, is 15 km (9 mi) away.
