Savage Garden

Savage Garden Review

This midnight-blue-and-white three-story restaurant is in the heart of Udaipur's old city in Chandpole. The staff is trained by an Italian chef, and the place feels Mediterranean, with minimal decorations, inside and outside seating, and lots of white and blue. The menu, just a page long, is a refreshing change from sheafs of standard Indian, Chinese, and Continental options available elsewhere. Owned by a German, the restaurant specializes in homemade pastas, and all dishes are prepared with filtered water. Beer and wine are available, and there are also baked goods available. There's even free Internet for guests.

We read the original Fodor's review about Savage Garden and were looking forward to a break from Indian food. The pasta did not appear to be homemade and the pomadoro sauce looked as if it had come out of a can. The service was non-existent and mosquitos reigned.
