At what's easily the most elegant address to dine at in Ahmedabad, an elevator takes you up to a rooftop restaurant that spreads across a covered, open-air terrace and overflows into a kind of a sunporch. Stained glass, old-style Gujarati furniture, overstuffed comfy low seating, marble tables, vividly hued puppet mobiles, and super-polite waiters clad in traditional clothes all contribute to a colorful and memorable dining experience. The sumptuous vegetarian thali—about 50 types of tiny dishes that include a variety of papads (lentil crisps) and other Indian breads, dozens of snacks, and a selection of sweets—is especially tasty and not to be missed. A sister restaurant next door, the Green House, serves dosas (crisp, thin lentil and rice pancakes) and other snacks.
