India has just a handful of synagogues, and this modern, attractive synagogue is probably the only one in the entire state of Gujarat. Built in 1934 and named after the man who established it, Dr. Abraham Erulkar, it serves the very tiny Gujarati Bene-Israeli community of Indian Jews. It's famous for its collection of sefer (handwritten) Torahs.
