Off in a corner of the Pink City, this lemon-yellow haveli is now a Heritage Hotel. Built for a prime minister of the royal court in the mid-19th century, and arranged around two courtyards, the haveli still has an air of stately grace and some original frescoes. Rooms are spacious and simply furnished. For opulence, stay in one of the two Sheesh Mahals, the luxurious quarters of the local Rajput himself; their walls, antique furniture, and pillars are all inlaid with mirror work. Low arches and mazelike corridors add to its Rajasthani style. The best views are of the elegant palace gardens. The hotel can arrange camel and elephant rides. The haveli also runs the Samode Palace and Samode Bagh. You can reserve for both through the Jaipur haveli. Pros: main dining room with ornamented walls is charming, huge rooms, hotel's park has swings for kids. Cons: fancier rooms are expensive.
