Fodor's Review:

Atop a sand dune, this base of operations for camel safaris in the Thar Desert is run by Reggie Singh; it's a great alternative to the more touristy camps that operate around Jaisalmer. All costs are included in the price of camp. Every route takes you through several different types of terrain and into the homes of local craftsmen. Make sure you watch the sunset from the dunes—it's truly breathtaking. Camel races and camel polo are also available. Pros: accommodation throughout the trip is in deluxe tents with carpets and running hot and cold water, and you are well taken care of; the outfit even has its own musicians. Cons: open only between October and April.

  • Hotel Details: 51 permanent tents, 50 mobile tents
  • In-room: no phone, no TV.
  • In-hotel: restaurant, bar, pool.
  • Rate includes: 3 meals
