On a sand dune in Mandawa, this eco-friendly hotel is influenced by traditional desert living. The rooms are stand-alone clay-colored "village huts" decorated with tribal handpainted art and inlaid glass work on the interior walls. The bedding and furniture radiates the warmth of Rajasthani fabrics and handicrafts. Even the main lounge is made of mud, and the dining room gleams from the bits of glass and shells in its walls. The suites are luxurious and elegantly designed. Sit by the pool or in the garden, and enjoy the striking desert panorama. Camel cart rides along with camel safaris are available. Pros: as close as you are going to get to the desert from Delhi, park with swings for children on-site. Cons: the pool is small, the hotel is slightly out of the way from the main parts of Mandawa.
