In the heart of the Shekhawati region, this Heritage Hotel was built in 1750 and is still owned by the descendants of the former thakur (landowner). Surrounded by a moat, it has a mix of Moghul and Rajput architecture. Inside, the stunning Diwan-i-Khas ("hall of private audience") has original wall frescoes, European-style portraits, Louis XIV furniture, and a well-stocked library. The clean, simple bedrooms have painted walls. Horse safaris (and camel and jeep trips) are available. Pros: impressive interiors, swimming pool. Cons: no Internet.
