Mount Abu

Mount Abu

High in the Aravalli Hills, Mount Abu has long been the site of one of Hinduism's most sacred rites, the yagya (fire ritual). Legend has it that the clan of the mighty Agnikula Rajput warriors rose from this mystical fire. Today, Mount Abu is Rajasthan's only hill station, and a pilgrimage center for Jains, who come here to see the famous Dilwara Temples. Mount Abu is also a great place to stop if you like taking long walks. Nakki Lake, resting between green hills, is believed to have been carved out by the gods' fingernails. The far side of the lake is quieter and cleaner. At Sunset Point you can imbibe a romantic Mount Abu sunset, but you can't avoid the crowds here.
