If you've come to Puri for a peaceful beach vacation, this isolated 30-acre resort is for you. The virtually private beach, 8 km (5 mi) east of town, is a beautiful wide, clean strand backed by forest and a deer sanctuary. (It's a 20-minute walk from the hotel, or take a bike or a free jeep ride, available from the hotel.) Rooms, some in cottages strewn across a garden landscape others in a resort building, are simply decorated but comfortable. A shuttle service takes guests to and from town; on the premises you'll find good food (Chinese, Indian, Continental, Bengali, and excellent Oriya), a fine pool, a shopping arcade, ayurvedic center, daily yoga classes, and other activities. Arrangements can be made for boat rides on the river.
