The best rooms in Puri are here, offering both style—teak floors with Persian-style rugs, elegant upholstery, carved headboards—and comfort, in the form of thick mattresses. Most rooms have balconies that look over rooftops to the sea. A flower-lined path leads to Mayfair's semiprivate beach. (They groom and staff it.) The resort is done in a vaguely New Mexican style, with burnt-orange stucco and lots of greenery. The outdoor patio restaurant with its wicker furniture is a pleasant place to relax over a drink. Neatly kept gardens and a pool that spills down right to the beach give the hotel a wonderful relaxing air.
