This restaurant is the third avatar of China Garden, which first began right at this spot. Like the original, this incarnation bustles with Mumbai's trendiest young VIPs and who's who. The spacious restaurant has maroon silk curtains, Chinese tapestries, a large Buddha, and a hushed, expensive look. It's easily the swishest Chinese eatery in town, with unusual Chinese artifacts decorating the room. The menu has a few pan-Asian dishes in addition to a wide selection of excellent Chinese food, some tailored to Indian tastes; including the paneer (cottage cheese) specialties and the numerous vegetarian choices. Hot favorites include prawns wrapped in bacon, crispy Peking chicken, crispy vegetable pancake, fried corn cream, sapo (cooked in banana leaves) chicken, Shantung prawns, gin chicken, and hakka fish.
